Penny paints abstract impressionist landscapes inspired by the water and forests surrounding the Monterey Peninsula, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada foothills and also does abstract and impressionistic florals and still lifes.
Penny was first influenced by her father, an architect and photographer, who moved the family to Pacific Grove where she attended high school and later took art classes at Monterey Peninsula College. She is primarily self-taught. A paralegal by trade, she has painted part-time all her life and now paints full-time at her home studio in Monterey, CA.
Penny has shown in various galleries, group collaborations and solo exhibitions throughout the Monterey Bay area, has worked in various mediums and styles including block print, watercolor and photography and currently paints primarily in acrylics on canvas,
